A Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress called the "Memphis Belle" came to Martin State Airport near Baltimore, MD for the weekend. Being a bit of an aviation buff, I had to go see her since it is always such a treat to see and hear these old Warbirds still in action. This particular plane was used in the 1990 filming of the movie "Memphis Belle", the original Memphis Belle is currently undergoing extensive restoration at Wright Patterson Air Force Museum, Dayton OH.
The plane in these images is a former firebomber B-17G-85-DL, serial 44-83546, registered N3703G, it was converted into a B-17F configuration by installing a Sperry top turret, early-style tail gunner's compartment and waist gunner's positions, and omitting the chin turret.
