On a whim a fellow co-worker and I decided to head to the Mall in Washington DC, to see the final flight of the Space Shuttle Discovery (riding piggyback on specially outfitted Boeing 747). I will never forget the roar of the crowd as the Space Shuttle approached the National Mall from the Lincoln Memorial and headed towards the US Capitol. We were perfectly positioned at the Smithsonian. What a great day, although sad to see this program end.
